On the left below is a copy of a map showing the location of the site. It shows the road running along the western edge, and the bridle-way from Old Sarum running along the eastern edge. The carpark is roughly where the number "45" is printed.
To the right is a map of the Chalk Grassland compartments on the reserve. We have given names to the 3 grassy slopes and the meadow, and the map below shows the names of the grassy slopes and the long thin section coloured light green is the meadow called Orchid Bottom.
We do not currently have names for compartments or areas in the woodlands, although this may come later.
As you would expect, the top of the map is the north end of the reserve, and the bottom is the southern direction

This is a map of the complete reserve, and shows the road and the river. The bridleway from Old Sarum to Salterton, is shown as the thick dashed line to the right of the reserve on this map.
The car park and entrance is denoted by a blue star. Thus, as you walk away from the car park along a short track, the slope that you face is Chalkhill Down, the compartment most recently brought under control and the least developed as a chalk grassland slope. Up and to the left, you can just see Dorothy's Down, and further to the left is Woodpecker Down. Through the gate in front of you and along the short track is Orchid Bottom.
